Sunshine Blogger Award

Hey guys! Happy Friday, I hope you’re staying warm. It snowed here today, and I am very upset about it. In order to pretend like it’s nice outside, I decided today would be the perfect day to do the sunshine blogger award! I was tagged for The Sunshine Blogger Award by WindowsToWorlds! Thank you so much for the nomination! I did do this tag before, so don’t be surprised if some of my questions get asked again (I’m not THAT creative).

The Sunshine Blogger Award

The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive and inspiring while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

When did you start blogging?

I kind of answered this before, but I started in college. I was a sophomore (so like 19) taking a technology class for my major, and in that we had to run a blog for a set period of time.

Why did you start blogging? What made you?

LOL I did just answer this above, my bad! I started because I had to for my class. It was like 1/5 of my final grade.

What’s your favourite part of being in the blogosphere?

I like that I can interact with people, and it’s not hard to find a blog centering on any of my favorite subjects. Also that I can go through posts as fast as I want.

What genres of music do you listen to? Any favourite artists/songs?

I listen to pretty much everything to a degree. I lived in a city that had cheap concerts every weekend, and I’m a big festival lover, so I listen to pretty much everything. Some genres are purely seasonal, and a few aren’t. I listen to a lot of EDM, alternative, and boy bands. I feel like those are some weird groupings lol.

What’s your favourite book genre?

Fantasy or horror. I love the weird and the scary.

Where’s your favourite place to read?

I really like to read in my hammock when it’s nice outside, or inmy blue chair next to my window. But I have to beat my dog to it, because she recently started thinking it’s her chair.

What do you dislike about blogging in general?

This is going to sound bad, but I hate how the algorithms are made sometimes. I originally started this book blog, because I wanted to talk about my books and find other books that might sound good. But the algorithm pretty much just recommends me posts about books I’ve posted, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Do you prefer dogs or cats?

I always have a hard time answering this question. I love cats, but when it comes to owning one I’m more of a dog person. I’m a very restless person, and I have a tendency to get loud at random points, and my energy levels tend to not really match a cat. I would like to have an orange or black cat at some point, but for now I have my dog.

Which book is closest to your heart? Why?

I have two, one I haven’t read since I was an actual child but I read it once a month for years, and one that I just can’t help but love. The first being Tennyson by Lesley M. M. Blume. Elementary school me fell in love, and then caused middle school me to read Tennyson’s works. The other book being Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I had read this when I was a freshman in high school, and was so excited to read a book about somebody that was geeky. Also I’m completely convinced Levi is the love on my life. It’s my comfort read.

What other hobbies/talents do you have besides blogging?

I really like certain video games, usually ones that have a lot going on so my focus doesn’t get pulled away. I also really like swimming, and hiking. Honestly being outside in general is a hobby lol. Also music. I have perfect pitch (just a slight flex), and I played a music instrument since I was 5. I only play the piano now, but I really enjoy playing fast angry music.

Do you have a pet? Or do you want one? Which one?

I do. She’s made quite a few appearances here, but I have a Plott Hound named Penny. She’s my Hurricane Dorian rescue, and she may be scared of everything she doesn’t know but I love her. This picture is her impatiently waiting for me to put a new treat in her puzzle.

As for who I tag and my questions, I’m going to tag anyone who wants to do it! I think this is a great tag, and it’s always so hard to make sure people haven’t done it already. And I want to keep Window to Worlds’ questions. Because they were fun, and I (selfishly) want to see your guy’s pets!

  1. Your dog is adorable! 😍
And it’s so funny you started your blog because of a technology class – I did, too! Though, thankfully, we only had to show that we could set the blog up and write one post, which was like the easiest grade ever 😂
Also, I’m lowkey jealous of of your perfect pitch! I’ve always thought having it must be so cool! Although one of my friends from orchestra swears it isn’t – it always drives her crazy that we tune our A at 443 Hz rather than the 440 she’s used to, and that she can’t sing sheet music in any other key than the one it’s written in. Whereas pitch-clueless me has absolutely no problems with that 😁

    1. Thank you!!!

Oh that would’ve been so much better! We had to create a brand and a theme and everything.
Perfect pitch is fun and weird i never learned the singing side of it to be able to know the cool things i can just say how off key you are and how to tune lol. I can’t get a good signing voice unfortunately

      1. Creating my own brand would have been a nightmare 😅 But I’m glad we got your blog thanks to that assignment!
I would love to be able to know how to tune! But I can’t do it without a reference note, and then, when several people around me are tuning at once, I always get confused because I’m not sure which note I’m supposed to be tuning to 😂 So I’d say your skills are pretty awesome, even if you’re not the best singer (Though I’m sure you’re much better than you think! You should hear my dad… 🙈)

  2. Congratulations! Ah, a hammock sounds like a wonderful place to read! I didn’t know the WordPress algorithms tended to recommend reviews of the same books you post about. I guess they’re going for “similar topic,” but that really doesn’t work for a book blog. It’d be nice if you could modify the algorithm to be more exploratory. 😄
