Writing Updates

I previously wrote a post about how I started writing a novel. It came up in such a weird and unexpected way, but I’m glad it happened.

I’m still writing in it, but at a much slower pace than what I was doing before. It’s been about a week and a half since I wrote my first blog post about it, and I have made some progress but not an absurd amount.

I currently have 10,196 words. That’s huge to me, but seeing as last time I was at 8,000 that’s not that much. But it at least means I’m still writing even though classes have started. To be fair it could just be that it’s still the beginning of the year and I’m still motivated, but I’m going to take it.

My updates other than that I’m still writing include a couple other things. I am almost done with the third chapter which I’m both happy and concerned about. How can I have 10k words and not even have 3 full chapters??! But also I have 10k words!!!

I also have begun playing with the idea of creating my own animals or just using ones that exist in this world. Basically, I’m trying to decide if I want to do high fantasy or just a normal urban one. I think I just need to write more in the story to decide. But I’ll figure it out.

I’m still trying to figure out if I should stop and write out an outline, or if I should just keep writing whatever I want as I want it. I keep getting told I should really outline. It’s the only way my story is going to be cohesive and make sense is what I’m told. So it’s scaring me. I just need other opinions I guess.

But I’m excited to see how this process goes and if I actually end up finishing it. I have no idea how long it’s going to be, but I’m at 10,000 words which is way more I’ve ever written in a creative story.

GO ME!!!!

Thank you 🙂
